Drain Cleaning & Hydro Jetting in Cincinnati, OH
Most single clogged drains in a sink, tub or toilet can be cleared in one visit with a drain snake. When several fixtures back up at once, or a basement floor drain overflows, the main line is blocked and usually needs a larger machine, hydro jetting and a camera inspection.
Call 513-776-8485 to be connected with a licensed Cincinnati plumber for kitchen and bathroom clogs, basement floor drains, main sewer line clearing and high-pressure hydro jetting.

Signs you need drain cleaning help
- Water draining slowly from sinks, tubs or showers
- Gurgling toilets or drains when another fixture runs
- Water or sewage coming up through the basement floor drain
- Several fixtures backing up at the same time
- Sewer smells from drains
- A kitchen sink that clogs again a few weeks after clearing

What is the average cost to unclog a drain?
A single clogged fixture is usually the least expensive plumbing call, while clearing a main line from a basement cleanout costs more, and hydro jetting more again. Price depends on access, the length of line and the time of day. See the cost guide for typical Cincinnati ranges, and ask for the price before work starts.
What's the difference between snaking and hydro jetting?
A drain snake (cable machine) punches through a clog and opens a path for water. It's fast and fine for most single-fixture clogs. Hydro jetting sends water at very high pressure through the pipe to scour off grease, scale and roots, so it cleans the full diameter of the pipe and lasts longer.
Jetting is the better choice for recurring kitchen-line grease clogs, root intrusion and restaurant lines. A good plumber will camera-inspect older clay or cast-iron pipe first, because jetting a cracked or badly corroded pipe can make a weak spot worse.
Why does my basement floor drain back up when it rains?
In many older Cincinnati neighborhoods, storm water and sewage share the same public sewer. In heavy rain that system can fill up, and water takes the easiest way out, which is often your lowest drain. A partly blocked lateral (the private line from your house to the street) makes it worse.
A plumber can clear and camera-inspect your lateral, and talk to you about a backwater valve or standpipe. If the backup came from the public sewer, the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSD) runs a sewer backup program that may help. Check MSD's website for current eligibility.
Why does my kitchen sink keep clogging?
Repeat kitchen clogs are almost always grease and food waste building up inside the pipe. Cooking fat goes down as a liquid and hardens further along. Clearing the clog with a snake opens a hole, but the buildup is still there. Hydro jetting removes it. After that, keep fats out of the drain and use the disposal with plenty of cold water.

Can I use chemical drain cleaner?
It's best not to. Caustic drain cleaners rarely clear a full clog, can damage older pipes and fixtures, and are dangerous for the plumber who has to open the line afterwards. Tell the plumber if you've already used one.
How often should a main sewer line be cleaned?
Only when it needs it. Homes with tree roots in a clay lateral sometimes need clearing every year or two until the line is repaired. A camera inspection will tell you whether regular maintenance or a repair makes more sense.
Do you clear restaurant and commercial drains?
Yes. We connect restaurants, offices and apartment buildings with licensed commercial plumbers for grease lines, floor drains and main lines. See commercial plumbing.
Is hydro jetting safe for old pipes?
Usually, when it's done at the right pressure after a camera inspection. If the inspection shows broken or badly deteriorated pipe, the plumber should recommend a repair instead.
